Situated on the south coast of Sri Lanka, Tangalle is a low key beach destination, with powder white sand and dramatic crashing waves. Over the last few years a number of upmarket boutique properties and villas have come up here, making it an ideal destination for those who want to get away from it all, but do so in complete luxury. Nearby Rekawa Beach which is the best place on the island for turtle watching and one of the few in South Asian where five turtle species come and nest. An excellent project which has utilised the help of local villagers has meant a massive reduction in poaching and a huge increase in successful hatchlings reaching the sea.
