Lakshadweep Islands

400 kms off the coast of Kerala lie the Lakshadweep Islands, which are made up of 36 coral islands. Like their closest neighbour the Maldives, the Lakshadweeps offer some spectacular diving opportunities, with crystal clear azure waters teeming with marine life. As a means of protecting the unique culture and pristine natural environment of the islands just two are open for foreign visitors to stay on. Bangaram Island Resort has a relaxed and informal feel, a real barefoot desert island, with just 30 thatched beach huts. A well equipped and professionally manned Dive School is available, and the shallow lagoons make it an idea dive spot for beginners. For the more experienced diver popular dive spots such as Manta Point and the wreck the Princess Royal, sunk 200 years ago provide much of interest. Manta rays, eagle rays, moray eels and green and Hawksbill turtles are common. Manta Rays are mostly seen from Oct-Dec when they come to feed at Manta Point.
