River Rafting

The myriad of waterways winding their way through Sri Lanka means that you can chose to anything from an easy paddle downstream to the more challenging white water rapid jumping. From Rainforest Edge one can do a gentle float down the Kukule Ganga which flows through the beautiful Sinharaja Rainforest, passing by small riverside villages and silent forests. The rapids on the Kelani and Mahaweli Rivers vary from exhilarating Grade 2 to extreme Grade 6 white water rafting experiences  - the best time for really challenging rapids is between May and December when the water level are at their highest.  On the River Ganges 2-5 day rafting treks can be arranged around Rishikesh, and some exciting grade 3 -4 rapids to negotiate. In the summer months Ladakh offers some good day rafting outside Leh down the Indus or Zanskar Rivers, amidst some of the most dramatic scenery on earth.
